Allen Banks Yew
This tree grew next to the river Allen and fell in the summer of 2018. As it fell acoss the path, the main tree trunk was pulled across the river and into the corner of this field where it rests. It's possible to stand where the tree grew for 198 years, when it started growing the age of steam engines was just beginning.

We first met Shona in 2011 when she took our wedding photographs and recognized then her great sensitivity and creativity as an artist. Therefore, in 2017 , when we first discovered her amazing tree relief prints - a Burr Elm print- in the Queen’s Hall in Hexham ( the very place where we’d been married), we were thrilled to be able to buy it. Eighteen months on, we decided to have another ‘tree’ in our lives. It is truely a thing of great beauty- combining nature with true artistry to form a stunning ‘abstract’ work of art. We were delighted to catch up with Shona once again when she delivered the print and shared with us the history and origin of this amazing yew tree. Many thanks indeed, Shona!
