This picture is currently on display in the Biscuit Factory Gallery, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne as part of the Design/Craft/Innovate exhibition on until the end of August.
This piece of wood was sanded, burned, wire brushed, and then inked.
The wood isn't level enough to be put through the press so this image is hand burnished using a bone folder. Its a slow, careful process and takes up to an hour as very millimetre of the paper has to be pressed onto the wood.
But so worth it!
This is a piece of Burr Elm from Hexhamshire Hardwoods.
Printed by hand onto Heritage Rag paper. It is a 100% cotton, unbuffered, Fourdrinier made paper with a vellum surface. It has a full archival specification.
Each print is signed and I note the date of printing on the reverse, and the number of the print.
No more than 50 will be printed.
This is available printed with Black Ink.
The image is available mounted using acid free mount board, with a fulfilment time of 7 days.
Framed images are available within 10 days. The frame is solid oak.
The image works well either horizontally or vertically and I sign and hang so that you can choose which is best for you.
