This Yew began life in 1822, at Allen Banks, Northumberland 7 years before George Stephenson designed The Rocket Steam engine, in nearby Newcastle.
The tree fell in 2018, 198 years later.
The image is hand burnished using a bone folder. Its a slow, careful process as every millimetre of the paper has to be pressed onto the wood. The paper takes on an intaglio feel and look so that as well as seeing the pattern, you see the hint of the 3 dimensional shape of the wood as well.
Printed by hand onto Heritage Rag paper. It is a 100% cotton, unbuffered, Fourdrinier made paper with a vellum surface. It has a full archival specification.
This is available printed with Black Ink and a mixed red ink ( a mix of Venetian red, yellow ochre, and raw Sienna) in an edition of 50 in each colour.
The image is available mounted using acid free mount board, with a fulfilment time of 7 days.
